Strengthening Estates Ministry is a report of a consultaion and a significant resource for work in estate communities. Drawing on the experience of clergy, community workers and residents of estates in the West Midlands the report reasserts a determination to live and encounter the missio dei within marginal communities and a refusal to model local church life according to the norms of an increasingly suburban church.

In a new book, Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Larry Elliott, Economics Editor of The Guardian, have brought together a collection of leading commentators to examine the role of morality and ethics in business. At this event, both discuss these fundamental themes together with Zac Goldsmith MP, Editor of The Ecologist, and Robert Skidelsky, professor of political economy, politician and historian.

Fair Play: celebrating and imagining cities of justice will explore the role of the church, faith communities and ordinary citizens, in contributing to a greater sense of urban justice, i.e. socio-political, economic, environmental, generational, gender, spatial and sexual. Globally cities are marked by deep divisions and disparities. The humanity of people and communities are often denied and bad power often contributes to exclusivist and oppressive city structures. How can people of faith and citizens work in partnership with the city and local communities to build just and humane urban environments?

Estate churches regional conferences
The National Estate Churches Network is a group of church leaders, workers and community workers who live and/or work on housing estates in England. Their aim is to ensure that housing estate ministry is promoted and well resourced. They now host three regional events. On 17 March, All Saints, South Oxhey, near Watford, will present their involvement in the BBC2 series The Choir. On 15 June, Holy Trinity, Tulse Hill, will host an event about four challenging estates nearby. And on 13 October, St Edmund’s Living Well, Dartford, will share how it developed a new health centre.
